UNDER A LANDROVER NEAR DERBY
Ok after parking my 90 into a tree I decided to drag the series 3 out of the back of the shed, (parked up in 2006 and not touched scince).
I drained the fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel pump, tipped in 3 gallons of fuel, and primed the whole system including injectors with the lift pump, after three attempts she fired up and sat there ticking over a treat,(turbo deisel). Great I thought, jump in and go for a taz, this is where it all went wrong.
The clutch pedal was solid(Id'e checked it in the summer and it was fine), ok I thought, put it in low box first, drag it with the tractor and jump on the brake and clutch, no joy.
next plan, chain from rsj gatepost to towbar with 10ft of slack, first low, start in gear (with string on the fuel pump solenid as the pull to stop wont work) started engine, NO movement, I dont ****in beleive it, checked levers but no the clutch is definatley dissengaged but the pedal is solid.
Run out of time so checking master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch arm tommorow.:(

first off open the bleed on slave cylinder to pump fluid through, that will show if pedal and master cylinder move.

does sound like theres a major problem in the cluch aswell.... if clutch plate was stuck to flywheel you should have still had movement at pedal and drive when chained up...... possible the clutch plate is rusted to fylwheel and you sheared the centre boss towing with tractor?

Got the gearbox out today and cannot find a reason for the solid pedal? I cracked the slave bleed nipple and the pedal moved, so I thought it must be release bearing, but everythings fine. Well at least I can fix the jumping out of second now.:(

So if the pedal moves when theres an unpressurised system would that not mean that theres too much pressure in the system when the bleed isn't open ?

Just a guess

no.... why guess when you obviously aint got a bleedin clue .? you only make yerself look like a trainee bob

if theres fluid being pumped out the slave bleed.. the pedal and master are likely ok. with the bleed shut does the slave piston move with the pedal? all you can do is follow the systen through .. is the release lever free on its pivot?.... could be the actual release fingers have seized on their pivots.
