Landy decided to take me half way home tonight and then, as it was dark, the back lights decided to go out and then the engine decided to stop working for no reason what so ever.

Electrical I thought as the gas / petrol switch over switch had no lights showing as it usually does.
Well, sods law says that you never have a torch when you need one and I didnt, niether did the Tesco express that I cruised to a halt outside of.
Managed to find a duff fuse with the light from my mobile phone and hey presto, the rear lights sprung into life, but no fuel pump etc.
Cut a long story short, I managed to hot wire the solenoid on the gas tank and got some gas into the engine which got me home.

So hoping its a fuse somewhere that's cutting all me fuel off, I'll be on it first thing in tha morning.

check the alternator/starter loom it feeds all the vehicle electrics-mine was totally ****ed.
Repaired it with an new alternator plug and solder spliced damaged wires.

Ah'd check the loom that goes through the chassis as it can rub on the bracing/ tubes sections inside it or round where it goes in and out.
It's quite easy tae take out and check. Ye just need some rope/ washing line/ cable etc that ye can tape the loom to and pull it through from the front.
Just tae give ye an idea, here's how ah did mine...

Ah disconnected the n/s wires from the lights and poked thum through the hole and unclipped thum along the back of the rear crossmember. Then ah disconnected the o/s lights etc and pushed them down through the hole.
Once wires were out and hanging down, ye should see where they feed through a grommit in the chassis. Ah then taped the wires to a reel of cable....

before markin' off the connectors at the front ...(ye'll know what wires to disconnect if ye follow them up from where they come out of the chassis)...

Then it's just a case of pulling it through carefully (Better with another person tae help guide the cable from the back) until it's out along with the cable or whatever ye attach for pulling it back through...

Ah found a couple of wires had been rubbin' and rotted through over the years but luckily they were ones that weren't bein' used;):D

lookin' back at the pictures... the red wire ye can see was a replacement for one of the knackered ones and it ran outside the chassis:doh:

Rather than stickin' the loom back inside the chassis, ye could stick some off that spiral plastic stuff on and run it along the top of the chassis to prevent it rubbin' through again;)

Turned out that the feed to the gas solenoid had shorted and blown the main fuel pump fuse and the fuse for the rear lights. Dont know why rear lights but hey, it's workin again.:)
