hello hay-we go again (difflock)

hello i have diff lock working and the lights are all workin so this means it must be the SWITCH !!!!!

i have searched the forum and it says its on top of the transfer box!

what will be the easiers way to do this please ???

do i just take and unscrew the transfer gear or do i take the full lot out ???

any pictures would be nice guys or links, as i am new at fixing cos garages rip u off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers and sorry

anthony

So, your difflock is working and the light is working, whats actually wrong?

The switch can be done from underneath, just unscrews........NOTE, any washers or nuts under the switch must be re-fitted to make sure its inserted by the correct amount, any less it wont work, to much and it can jam the diff lock.

yeh sorry the light blub works but doesnt come on !!!

so the switch must not be earthin ? !

i have had a look underneth but cant really see any wires ???

this has come about after a new clutch so wounderin if they havent connected wire ???

just would like a push in the right direction !!! please

what is easy and can any 1 post me a link showin the exact location of the switch if they can please?

cheers in advance anthony

mine use to stay on as in the light on the dash i sprayed some wd-40 down the hi-lo selector been ok since :D

If its the same as the 300TDI then the switch is on top of the transfer box casing. you can't see it without the use of a torch and a mirror (or a camera). You then replace it by feel....at least that's what I did...It's the bit with the red ring round it in this pic

No, it doesn't matter which round the wires are. To test the switch/wires disconnect both wires and short the connectors to together with a spare bit of wire the turn the ignition on and the difflock light should come on. If it doesn't should have a bad connection somewhere between the switch and the light. If it does then the switch is faulty. You can get a spare at Paddocks or any of the usual suppliers
