Working on the car this eve and made good progress in some respects............
Anyway, the light was beating me so I packed up my tools and locked the car. Indicators flashed, all looks ok, I walked 2 or 3 paces away and beep beep beep from the dash.I press unlock on the keyfob and it beeps again, and will not unlock.
Looking through the window I see Key Code Lockout on the dash display.
The locks are cycling lock/unlock once every 2 seconds or so, message still there, cannot get in.........

I keep the EKA in multiple places, so I grabbed the details from indoors. Tried entering the EKA and the locks are still going mad. Strangely the drivers door unlocked while all the lock/unlock cycling was going on but the others were all still locked.
Message still on dash, tried EKA again with door open. No good.
Popped bonnet, disconnected battery to stop the lock madness..........

Any ideas?

Just to add, I had left the key on the ignition the last 5 -10 mins of working on the car.

Cheers in advance.

RF Unit gone mad or damp BeCM

There is no RF interferance around here. There are only 4 houses in this part of the valley and no mobile signal at all on 3 networks, a slight dribble of a signal on 1.

I hope it is not a damp BECM, it has never happened before and I was under there by the BECM yesterday (doing other work) and there was no sign of damp :-S

The dash has been reporting low battery in keyfob, I forgot that.......

Doesn't need RF interference for the RF unit to keep cycling the locks...they lose their marbles and tell the BeCM to open up and then lock...

Try unplugging it completly and see if it stops the lock cycling...obviously you won't be bale to use the fob or maybe even start the car, but if it stops the locks cycling....it will prove the RF unit is duff!

Cool, thanks. A job for the morning.

Open Car
Unplug RF Unit
LEAVE DOOR OPEN
Connect Battery
Open a Window
Close Doors
See if the locks keep cycling

Reason for openiong a window is if you have the RF unit unplugged and the door lock mechanicals are fubarred, if the car cycles the locks and locks the car, with the RF unit unplugged and the Door Lock mech fecked, you ain't getting in...atleast with a window open you will have half a chance!

Great tip. Cheers. Update in the morning........

Open Car - Done
Unplug RF Unit - Done
LEAVE DOOR OPEN - Done
Connect Battery - Done but immediately keeps cycling immediately reconnected
Open a Window - Unable to - nothing happens
Close Doors - dare not
See if the locks keep cycling - as above

Right, left on fast charge a few hours, came back and re-connected battery.
Beep beep beep, Key code Lockout. Kind of expected. Left about 40 mins as per:
Security and Alarm System Operation & Diagnosis on Range Rover 4.0/4.6/P38A

No more messages on dash display. Yey! :)

Entered EKA with door open, all ok. Beep beep and then reconnected RF box and re-sync to keyfob. All ok.

Cool, that one seems fixed now. Onto the next cucking falamity....
