This is not Landy related, but there are some wise sages on here so I thought I would try.
I am on holiday in France with my Mondeo tdci 2004 model, last night while driving (not hard)there was a bang(more a pop really, sounded like a seal giving way-it was whistling at the time) from the turbo and loads of oil smoke poured out the back, the engine died and coasted to a stop-recovery (thank god I have this)have towed it to a garage for quotes-I await further news.
I did try restarting and it will turn over but seems to be hydraulicing instead of firing-then will not turn over further-yuk.
I know some LZ members also own mondeo tdci's.
Any pointers on what is likely to have gone?
Sorry again for not being Landy related, but any views to help understand would be good-Thanks

Thanks James-looks like best way forward is to have wagon repatriated, and fix at home-Wish I had brought the disco now, most of that is doable at the roadside-thank god I took out drag you back recovery

AA do it... cost me 100 quid for a years cover. They were very good. Flew me an the family home when the 110 failed in portugal then flew me back out when it had been repaired.

hell thats good ,we took the kids to disney world a few years ago ,had to brake sharp and car stalled and wouldnt start tried everything ,blocking traffic so getting a bit panicky thinking what the fu-k am i going to do trying to think how much a repair there was or to get it towed home ,luckily was just a loose wire id dislodged with my foot so ok but ill definately join the aa before next trip

I,m with Vehicle rescue direct for the Mondeo-£68.00 for the year-not sure if they cover Landy's or vehicles over 15 yrs old-but at times like this you are glad you took it out

Had to make a claim about 6 yrs ago, again vehicle rescue direct-hit a pig on the motorway outside Lyon,France 3.00 AM -ripped all the diesel lines off underneath,as we went over it at 85mph.Dragged us off motorway, put us up in hotel-hired us another car while our's was fixed(you pay the parts and labour though).Well worth the money, just in case-not sure what the hell I would do otherwise
