Not a landy question, but does anyone know anything about Volvo 940's?

As title :D

bloke at work has a volvo 940 1995 diesel that the insurance company has written off as a cat C. so he wants to drain the remaining diesel out of it before it gets picked up. now, he says there is no drain plug. what other way is there to drain the diesel? google isnt coming up with much. siphon dont work neither.

I did this to my rover 216GTI before it got took away as had visions of the people holding it would syphon off the petrol

I disconnected the inlet petrol pipe to the fuel filter in the engine bay, then turned the ingnition as if starting the car, of course no fuel getting to the engine so it wouldn't start, and the fuel pumped out the pipe and down a hosepipe I connected to the pipe I disconnected and into a jerry can, how and if that would work on a diesel is another thing, if the thing is totally fooked it don't matter about the starter motor

so you just kept cranking it over and over? how quick does it come out? we reckon he has 55-60litres of fuel in it!

Yeah just kept cranking it, stopped now and again to let starter cool so it didn't get too hot, It emptied my half a tank of petrol quite quickly too, how quick I can't actually remember, that was way back in 2001/02 I did that
 
Even after you disconnect the fuel pipe you will prolly find the engine will start and run for a second until fuel lines and what not empty, after it conks out, start the cranking
 
cool, thanks tweets. we have located the 2 solid lines coming in to the engine bay from the tank. these go to the fuel filter. we were going to discon these and have a go.

sound ok?

well it might landy10. i dunno i only ever owned landies. and thats only been for 3 years! we disconned both pipes to the filter. the engine ran for a bit, conked. cranked over but no fuel! dont know whats happening. would the intank pump shut down if there was no back pressure? will have to try tomorrow lunch time. if it all failed were gonna puncture the tank and use some evostick to repair once drained :D

Hmmmm, I know my fuel pump was in the tank, you heard it prime itself when you turned the ignition on whilst waiting for the "check engine" light to go out......

A hole sounds like the best idea
 
I had a fuse that kept blowing for the horn, I found a thick piece of wire and crimped a spade connecter to each end and plugged it in where the fuse went, can you bridge the relay like that
