Had my 99 Freelander about a week and still getting to grips with its little quirks like the rear door window dropping an inch before it opens and opening the rear window with the fob and raising again with the key but what about opening the rear door with a key?
Can you do it or do I have a faulty door lock as it doesn't work for me?

Secondly if you cant is there anyway to open the rear door from the inside if the solenoid fails?
Thanks

the key hole is there for raising the back window only you can not open the back door lock with it also to point out if you lower the back window by the switch you can stop it at any time but if you wind it up by the switch and stop it at any time it will roll back down to the bottom again hope this helps

Brilliant.
Thanks for that; )

additional info. If you lock the whole car with a key, you can unlock it including the rear door with the key.

That's how you lock but don't set the alarm, for when yer dog is inside...
