noisy 200tdi

I am coming to the end of my tether with this rangie,feel like i have been lying under this for months doing gearboxes, on third gearbox now first syncro gone on second and thought to be whining, second syncro gone on third gear and still whining, third all syncro's good still whining, turns out after all that it was the transfer box, changed that and now quiet, but now i can hear the engine noise and its quite loud, have a job to have a conversation with the missus, how can i quieten down this 200tdi? i know they are sometimes called agricultural but i have one in a series 3 and its very quiet

Check fuel pump timing....

Our Ninety with a Disco 200TDi started getting noisy, timed pump...all was good....then it started getting noisy again, just done an overhaul on it and found a nasty surprise...the crank damper had been working loose and knackered the woodruff keys throwing the timing all over the place.....any longer and the keys would have sheared completly trashing the engine!

Check fuel pump timing first.

Just adjusted the pump timing and it's ten times better, thank you Saint v8 excellent advice
