Noise behind dash help

Hi, I have a 53 disco 2 (facelift) auto diesel. Turn key but not start and I can hear a motor/fan behind offside (right of steering wheel) air vent on dash. Continues with engine started. Can anyone shed a light please. Quite noisy too. Thanks

Tis the ambient cabin temp sensor,

If you search there are a few good write ups on cleaning, only a 10 minute job.
