No Transmission

Hi. I have a 2002 TD5 Disco 2 Auto. Last week it suddenly went into Limp mode and would not go into gear when I stopped. I towed it to my lockup, put a brand new battery on thinking it might be that but the fault is still there. It starts and runs but when you drop it into Drive or R there is no movement, it just revs. Can't move it by going into any other gear and switching from Hi to Lo makes no difference. I’ve Nanocomed it and there are no faults. Once and only once when I started it and put it in Drive it started to creep very slowly but immediately stopped and just revved. There are no noises, it sounds normal. Any ideas ?

I think that would flag up faults and flash the M and S lights (not wishing to contradict the great Stanley) from my experience with the XYZ switch.

What about fluid level? This seems like a lack of pump pressure. There is a similar symptom on http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Oil_cooler_pipes.html but I guess the OP may have spotted fluid all over floor!

You are probly right, and I wasn't sure, hence the question mark!
Having suffered the three amigos and the M & S lights I unnerstand wot you're saying.
Never had the XYZ switch problem myself yet. (Probly will now I've said that!)
It is possible I suppose that the gearbox could be leaking ATF only when driving and therefore may not be obvious when looking under the vehicle. (Pipes to rad or whatever). But agree it is time to get under and get the plug out with the engine running!
