No Throttle Response!

We have just recently acquired a 300 Disco 2.5TDi Auto. A couple of times it has seemed to have no response to the throttle! It occurs when I am stopped, then select 'D' and put my foot down, the engine does not respond and there appears to be no drive. Anyone out there got any ideas I would be very grateful.
