I have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery 2 with a speedometer that didn't work, It also has ACE and the amber light was staying on. The cruise control also wouldn't work.
I checked the resistance from the wheel sensors and all was ok. Seeing as none of the 3 Amigoes were on I was happy that the ABS sistem was working ok.
The speedo is driven via the SLABS computer so I replaced the computer but the problem still existed.
Took vehicle to dealer for diagnostic machine which told me sensor problem and a list as long as your arm with other possible causes.
I decided to check all the earth and header connections and found about 6 female splce connectors wrapped up in the wiring harness behind the glove box just under the heater fan blower motor.
Two of the plugs were full of corrosion so after cleaning all connections the problem was cured.
