no right hand sidelights or dash light

Hi everyone,

Just found a problem today - trying to replace driver's side front sidelight and it blew its fuse. Replaced the fuse and now neither front or back sidelights work (but brake lights do) and there is no dash illumination (the gauges don't light up and no headlight warning light but all the others do) all the fuses are checked and ok. Has anyone got any ideas?

P.s. vehicle is a 97 300tdi 90

Do the main beam lamps work?

Yes they do, and the symbol in the dash lights up too

Possibly switch problem. As you're probably aware, earthing issues can cause all sorts of weird problems! Start by trying another bulb and then checking the earths. Also check the wiring back from the dodgy sidelight for possible shorts.

Hi, thanks for the advice! The problem sort of..disappeared. I removed and checked all the fuses (all fine) and after that it worked so maybe one was loose for some reason. Thanks again though
