Ive recently acquired my td5 discovery and its giving me a bit of a pain in the side.

I cant get any real power in 3rd at 2.5k rpm, it takes about 2-3 mins to past 50mph to get up to the next gear on level ground then once its back to low rpm it seams to be ok again (not got it past 70 yet).

I noticed yesterday when climbing a hill with a fair pit of throttle there was a whistling/squeak pulse from the engine bay and the car would judder (they were in time with each other, i.e when the car juddered the whistle/squeak happened), again at 2.5k is but would go if i eased off the throttle but still maintained the rpm.

Ive changed the MAF, blocked the egr valve off. The waste gate arm is free as far as i can tell although i haven't taken the rod off the valve yet to try it.

to me this fault sounds like a turbo problem, Ive done a search and people say ignition harness can cause faults at high rpm so Ive ordered one just in case that is oiled up but i wouldn't see this affect produce those noises.

any ideas????

First put your location up someone might be close and willing to help.

Is the exhaust manifold warped? possible that is gone and is letting gases out and you are losing pressure to the turbo. If it's warped and not crackes get it skimmed and put it back on with a new gasket.

It seems to me too ...See this www.discovery2.co.uk / Waste Gate Modulator - Over boosting and also check related pipes

all sorted, I changed the waste gate modulator, and I found lots of oil in the ecu plug so changed the injector loom too and been flushing it out every day so far, today there was no oil in it at all but will keep an eye out for it to re-develop.

wonder what other problems will come up next.

thanks for all your help.
