No power - MAF sensor problem

So last weekend when we had all the rain and downpour .....my car lost all it's grunt and power ......
I filled up on LPG and only got 100 miles out of £45 ...

The car began to run 'lumpy' - and even cut out a few times going around corners - and even going through a very shallow puddle at low speed - which was very embarassing :( - however it did start again.....

So, this week I've spent some money (I've thrown quite a bit at the old girl lately) new NGK spark plugs, Magnecor Blue HT leads, and a K&N panel filter, and a can of MAF sensor cleaner.

So today, I've fitted all this, and cleaned the MAF sensor .......and the car is just running the same :(
I have unplugged the MAF sensor .....and the car keeps on running at idle the same - is this normal? - I think i've read somewhere that the car should cut out and die if the MAF is unplugged ?

I'm hoping I haven't got head gasket / crankshaft problems - I was planning to get a compression test done this week.

Any of you guys have any ideas ?

On a positive note, I also fitted a new EAS compressor today and my suspension is sorted ! .....for now lol....

Ok - so I've had the adaptive values reset - and it's just about back to normal :)

However when the car was connected to faultmate my local indie specialist did say that the MAF sensor was throwing out some odd values after the reset. It was cold today - but the MAF sensor was showing -3degC?

So I may well need a new MAF sensor yet. I'm going to run it for a week and see how I fair.

Fingers crossed :)

K&N filters do the MAF no good. They eventually coat the wires in oil deposits & mess with the values. Get yourself a standard filter would be my advice.
