After owning various Japanese Shoguns /Pajero`s, I have taken the plunge and gone back to a Solihull product and am getting used to all the knocks and bangs again. I have just bought a 93 Discovery TDi. All seems to be going well, it drives similarly to my old manual 74 Range Rover (!) , but ( so far ) I have one minor problem. It wont go in and stay in low range.
When I first drove it a day or so ago, I tried out low range ( I went through all the correct procedures, both moving and static) and I got it to drive. Now however, it doesnt seem to want to engage low range. I can get it to work now and again, but it drops out. I am assuming the linkages are out of adjustment because it all seems fine when engaged although there doesnt seem to be a positive feel when it goes in.

So, my question is, if it is the linkage, how do I adjust it, where is it, and how do I actually get to it?

well, I found the linkage and adjusted it. Looks like someone had removed the gearbox at some time and not adjusted it. They also drilled out all the rivets holding the inspection cover / surround and didnt bother to fit new ones when they put it back together. So, all sorted, and low range available again.

Its quite an easy job to do as you've probably found out. my friend had the same problem in his 110 when we were in wales the other week, 5 mins later and it was as good as new
