Hi All

help!!
when out this morning, defender 90 running great. I then looked at the temp gauge and it and the fuel gauge were dead! Indicators also dead! I check the fuses and I thought good just the fuse had blown!
I replaced the number 3 fuse and also check number 1 which had also blown. I change both fuses and all seemed ok.....ten mins later all dead again?
This time the flasher relay was f**ked as well.
So....check the rear trailer connections and they looked crap so for now I cut the connect unit off and tape up. I then bought a replacement flasher and things seem all ok. Next thing all dead again? My question to you all is.....I suspect the hazzard switch? Should the indicators work with the switch removed? I have also noticed that the flasher unit clicks is I touch the brake or wipers or switch the lights on?

help....

thanks

i think you have a wire chafage problem. Look in the dashboard, behind the speed (remove the whole console, its about 4 screws) and check them all, carefully. Then, check the fusebox area too.

The indicators will work without the switch, at least mine always have. This wn't affect the gauges though.

sounds like a crappy day for me tomorrow. I have quickly tried the indicators without the Hazzard switch plugged in and they dont work! I then plugged in the suspect switch and I got a flicker?

This happened to me.
Try flicking the hazard switch on and off vigerously and they may well work.
This was acommon problem with old Minis and the defender is wired similarly in lots of areas to the Mini including wire colours.

other than that twizzle the fuses as the holders and endcaps get old and dont contact very well.
