No drive unless diff lock

My 200tdi won't move, can sellect gears and clutch appears to do the business but she will not move foward or back in 2 or 4 wheel drive, however put the diff lock on and away she goes.

I am thinking its a problem with the transfer box as the prop turns.

Any answers ?

You've got a broken half shaft.
Or, less likely a fooked diff or drive-member.

Aye most likely you've snapped a halfshaft.

Which ever prop is turning when your not in diff lock and not moving shows you which axel is the trouble. If its the rear prop then taking out the halfshafts to check which one is easy. Difficult bit will be getting the broken bit out, specially if it snapped in the diff.

I agree with the answers given, but your original question suggests a lack of understanding of the Discovery transmission.
Discoveries are always (when not broken) in 4 wheel drive. I suggest you do a search here, it's been covered many times, or even read the handbook.
