Serious now. MattB When your pedal only moves a bit do you mean about 10% of the pedal travel, meeting resistance and now braking power, if you are then I think we are both in deep stuff. I now test brake before I need to brake properly. Sorry if your following. P.s. Someone once said only dead fish go with the flow.

thats correct its scary i only use my van now until sorted

Have you tried disconecting the plug that comes of the ABS block betwween the washer bottle and the air filter? That is what was diconnected on mine and I never had a prob then. Red and black wires or red and brown... only two of them. Try it you might stop.

HMMM, Do you know if air in the brake system would cause our dilemma? I am going to try a bleed and see what happens. Do you have any dash lights on or other electrical gremlins? as I do. Just found that the fuel pump electricle connector has been disconnected! do you know what difference this would make?

thats funny you said that the last job to be done was a rear hub oil seal would that have needed all the brakes to be taken off they might not have beeb blead right then and now its showing

It has since been recommended that i leave it undone and since doing so have had not one problem. Chap did say that the system was an afterthought by L/R? Maybe the reason it is pants.

Hi,
I hope that this may help you because when I first brought my 300 tdi I had the same problem with my brakes after days of checking it was a ABS sensor on the rear hub took the sensor out cleaned it made sure it was sitting correctley in it's location.

Hi did you ever find out what was wrong with your brakes as i have the same problem with my mk1 freelander

Yes. The abs is a duff system. Its now disconnected and I have never a an issue since and the disco still stops well and under control - even with mud tyres so I am happy to leave it off.
