Alreeettttt,

So I got my 90 pickup sorted out following my 200Tdi upgrade on the engine and took her for an MOT at my local garage (Mac's in Witney OXON , Very good chaps)

Failed on -

Blowing Exhaust at the rear bracket of the mid box
OS side light, rear light and HIRFL not working.
Brake servo not working
Headlight Aim (OS) too high
Wipers faruked!!

I had a shot at the headlight and HIRFL and I won, replaced the wipers, but when I got to the MOT station the Side lights let me down!! :-( Absolutely nothing !!! they were on all the way there!! He popped it on the ramp and they refused to work!!

And when he popped the truck up on the lift and looked at my shiny new exhaust bracket, he noticed the mid box was leaking a bit further up the way, so gave it a pull and the neck of the exhaust broke clean off!! Very easily !!! Doh.

I have a new exhaust box coming and I have fixed the sidelights and the HIRFL remains good.

So...... Fingers crossed!!! Wish me luck for retest 2 !!!!!!

Saving up for a galvanised one, I've got rock sliders fitted and it took the impact on the front bumper and rear outrigger. My wife borrowed it a couple of weeks ago and drove it with the handbrake on. When I was sorting that out I noticed a bit of a bulge on the inside of the chassis and the front axle is about 15mm out

So I finally got it sorted a week later but forgot to update the thread! So I was banging around the cotswolds in my little pickup for 2 weeks before i shipped out for the Xmas shift onboard and Oil Rig in Angola.

I managed to convert the missus also who hated the truck before (was a bit jealous of the love i think ! ). I treated her to a few runs to the tip in Truckie and after about 500yds she started laughing her head off at the sheer ridiculous loud and uncouf nature of the little blighter! She ended up loving it ! Perhaps the seat mounting was loose ( ;-) ) i dunno ! Now she wants to go for some off road adventures so all in all a result !

Quite a lot of women enjoy driving a big 4x4 once they get the hang of it, because it makes it much harder for other drivers (particularly vans) to try and intimidate them. And nothing but a lorry can try it on with a nice old defender!

I think she likes the fact that when a boy racer is coming down a one track road I always win !!! I tend to approach regardless of their speed and at the last minute smash up on to the verge and drive round them as they are skidding to a halt with their 14" part worns locking up and me effortlessly continuing !

My dog loves a good old drive in trukkie also !

Don't you check over your vehicles before you go for M.O.T ? I started doing this years ago using a spare check sheet that the tester gave me, and I've been doing a pre- M.O.T check ever since. Obviously, I have had to add extra checks to the list as and when the DVLA introduced them. You can get a Haynes manual on passing the M.O.T from Halfords, that will help you do your own checks, and if you do this well.... no more red faces on the day.

Well Yes indeed I do but as I said, when i checked it all over the light situation was perfect !!

I never noticed the back box was blowing as she had passed no probs last year and been in the garage ever since but it turned out it was shot to bits ! And the wipers well, they were only just ready to be changed so if the exhaust had been good and the wipers a little bit better it would have sailed through !

At least this way I got a retest of only a couple of things and the old girl passed !
