Hi

I have just changed over the bulkhead on my Defender. Its all in place and secure but I have noticed a few differences between this one and my old one. I have got a newer bulkhead which obviously had the newer type (td5) dash where as mine was the 200tdi dash.
The bulk head seems to be the same except for a few added bits, such as over the air vents (at the top) on the passenger side on the old bulkhead is a riveted plate where as on the new bulkhead there seems to be a special vent. If that makes sense?

What I need to know is can i modify my original dashboard to fit this new bulkhead/need a new dashboard/modify the bulkhead to accept old dash/buy different brackets and fixings that will fit new bulkhead and old dash.

Hopefully some one has hit this same problem and knows where to go since we have ground to a halt at the moment.

If you need any more information just let me know.

Cheers

Richie

I fitted a 300tdi bulkead with 1990 dash, only problems I had were there was no hole for the loom, drill soon fixed that. There were then some other big holes which were probably for the later type loom which I just plated.

Ah cut that plate off in the second photie, then drilled out the rivets holdin' the one on in the furst photie (along with the old vent grilles) and stuck them on the new one.

As fur yer photies, try left click on IMG code below yer photie then right click, copy and paste it in yer post;)

Cheers Sean for puttin the pictures up!

Ok Bustersbus Sorted the stuff u said! Got to the puttin the bottom bit on (rubber bottom half of dash) Is it me or are there some bolt holes missing for the top part! If that makes sense? If not will put some pics up!

Busters bus here are the photos of the places I was on about.

There are 2 holes that dont have one on the new bulkhead? Is it a case of adding some or are they for something else??

Ah don't think ah used them for anything Oy. Ah think they are summit to do wi' the Td5 dash. Ah did have to drill another couple of holes near them tho' (think it was for the plastic cover thingy)

Ah just used stainless screws instead of the plastic rivet things.

You could always put some rivnuts in.

Cheap as chips on fleabay and a doddle to fit using a spanner and ratchet.
