Hello Vince, welcome to the forum :)

Not from Welsh Wales meself, but have been there a few times and always thoroughly enjoyed it. The Welsh mountains have a character all of their own ;)

Hope you have fun in here - and maybe pick up a few hints and tips from Slob's mechanic

Welcome to the forum Vince22,

I'm from just over the bridge in Bristol. Hopefully going to drag my ass over to the Brecons this year for a little play!
Anywhere you would suggest? Have you been in the Seven Sisters Quarry?

Vince22 - is that your landy in the avatar? I am sure I followed this specimen through North Wales a while back. The large tyres and expanded wheelarches being distinctive. I was following in a black defender TD5 near Betws Garmon.

The LR gearbox had dumped all of its oil over the road outside my Grans. It seized up about a mile down the road. My Brother let it cool down and drove it gently back to my grans where he called the AA to get him back to Wales. Any idea what might have gone wrong other than it siezing up?
Thanks Dusan:)

no its not my landrover seeing as i havnt got a digi cam or anything to get pics of mine on here, so i searched for a picture on the internet and found this one thinking it would make a perfect example of a land rover

Sounds like gearbox failure is pretty terminal if its dumped oil on the road. Whatever has happened its gearbox out I think.

You can trade in dead gearbox for a re-conditioned one.

I've got a spare one from a series 3 which needs overhauling.

where did it come out of?? if you only drove it for a mile slowly then being a landy it might have survived so before you go pulling the box out try fixing the leak and refill it.

The oil came out of the drain plug. It must have got knocked off or something similar happend to it. 'steamcoster' Where are you in the UK. If the Gearbox is bust i would not mind comeing to buy yours (depending where you are). The gearbox is a LT77 by the way.
