Hi, I've just joined, been lurking for a while. I don't own a land rover yet but i'm seriously hunting for a series 1, 2 or early series 3 which is proving to be quite a task.

Well the search for a series landrover proved a waste of time, either over priced or needing a full rebuild. Even the rebuilt ones needed a rebuild. I settled on a 1992 Defender from a local dealer. It's been re-built to a pretty good standard, just needs a few bits and bobs finishing to get it to my standard. Picture attached below, i'm sure i'll be on here more now picking your brains.

Not thought about green laning at the moment but who knows? My original reason for getting a landrover is to use it to get to work (Buxton) in the bad weather and for towing a trailer. I considered other 4x4's but though the landrover would be a good investment as well as nice tool to own. I have been using it locally over the past day or so and i'm really enjoying it.

Driving it will get addictive when you start driving places you would assume nothing can get down

For some reason, I assumed you were in Kent, (think is must be the whole k44ent thing) then I got really worried when you were going to start driving from Kent to Buxton on a regular basis! Don't worry though, I've worked it now...!

It already has, I love driving it! The steering felt a bit weird so have fitted a new steering box and it's now fantastic.

It is, together with poly bushes, new springs, shocks, steering linkages and steering box. Doing the rear brakes tomorrow as one of the rear wheel cylinders has started weeping. Can't believe how reasonably priced bits are. set of new drums, shoes and wheel cylinders for £80.
