Newbie needs some help!

Hey all,

Just signed up to this forum as I'm looking for some advice.

I have found a very good condition Freelander, on an 02 plate with 68500 miles on it.

I keep reading all these horror stories about the head gaskets going.

The Freelander I am looking at has had a new gasket done at 60000ish miles (I will double check with the garage tomorrow). How long do you think this will last? Everytime I drive it, will I be wondering if its going to go? Or should it be ok as its no more than 8k old?

I need some advice guys! I'm between a rock and a hard place as its a very nice car but this is just sat at the back of my mind.

I don't have over £1k to spend on a new engine/rebuild.

See, that's a real shame. Its such a nice car - perfect size for what I'm looking for, nice to drive, really good condition, but a dodgy engine

Oh well, I'll give it a miss

buy a td4 or l-series diesel instead if you really want one.

Do they come in 3 door?

yu ,mean the L series dont suffer from the earlier VCU problem? or they both suffer from cracked chassis, sheared subframe mounting bolts, or heavy tyre wear?

all vehicles have faults, alot is down to how they are used, mine was fine
