Hi Guys..
Well my 20 yo Grand Cherokee is finally giving up the ghost, and although i love it , its past the point of repair.
So now looking at the TD5, an 04 Landmark version to be precise with 135k on the clock.
It apparently has a warm up fault of not going into top until warm after 3/4 mile, but from what i have read this is normal to aid warm up.( Could it be anything more serious) and a rattle from front exhaust which he thinks is the cat..
The guy selling it has had it a while, so if it always happened would have thought it was normal and no need to list it as a fault... He has also bought landy parts for it and removed the egr so obviously has worked on it , so must have researched it a bit.
I dont mind getting a vehicle to work away on as ive been doing it for years across a lot of types and probably have enough tools to resupply the local motor store. However internal engine and gearbox is where i stop. Adjusting the bands on my old cherokee was as far as i would go, and thankfully resolved the issue at the time i was having.....so im wondering if theseTD5 are prone to problems or whether the above could be a bigger problem.
