Hi folks, I have been recomended to you by my next door neighbour - fellow freelander owner. I own a 2002 td4 and last night along the m5 it came to a stop several hours from home.

The engine ticks over ok but when I try to accelerate the air pipes suck flat and the revs dont exceed 1000rpm.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, newbie Doug.:D

Eyop Doug !

welcome to the farm !

you might wanna try whippin the hoses off and check that they aint collapsed/ delaminated on the inside, this could cause the symptoms yer havin . the inside of the hoses can come away and block the flow of air.

Have fun !

Thanks for the quick reply, I've tried the hoses this afternoon and seem ok, I got a freeby from a local LR breakers just in case. it made no difference.

The guy then suggested maybe intercooler full of oil, I have'nt removed it to check but I did look in the inlet / outlets and they showed no sign of it being full of oil. There is good draught and suction thru the intercooler.

The hoses were'nt very oily and the diaphragm valve on the r hand side in front of the turbo isnt full of metal - sorry I cant recall what it's called.

Thanks Doug

Hi, the air filter is removed - last night by green flag guy, makes no odds.
Having said that, on the large bore pipe from the air intake on the left front of the engine bay there is no detectable pull or push of air movement.

Thanks, Doug

Ps would it be turbo related?

Its lookin like it could well be! or the actuator bit. but sayin that. I dunt recall anyone on here sayin that the turbos chucked its end in.

It could also be fuel related problem, filters /pumps etc?

A search of the forum might help, top o the page !

Eyop Clutchdust's here he can probly put yer rite !

When the left hand intercooler pipe is disconnected from the engine side the engine can be revved upto 3500rpm. none of the pipes then suck flat, although its not responsive as per normal.

when revving light coloured smoke from exhaust is evident, and correlates to the amount of revving.

Thanks Doug
