Newbie getting addicted

So my GF buys a loaded black Defender 300tdi with a 4" rise because she's always wanted one. It needs some work; it's making funny noises; can I fix it? Sure thing says me. I buy her a Haynes manual for xmas. She's chuffed and all is going well. I do the valve clearances and secretly enjoy it - it's been a long time since I've been able to use spanners under the bonnet of a vehicle. Now the electrics are playing up... Can I fix it? Sure thing says me. It's been a long time since I've been able to use my electric meter on a vehicle. And so it goes on.

This thing is a bit of a pig with some poor diy in the past but it's really getting under my skin. Now I want one too! Am I doomed?
