Hi,

Just bought a Defender 90 last weekend. Using it for work, as in commuting to and from and also gonna start offroading once I get a proper set of tyres and alloys sorted out, have the original Land Rover steel rims at the moment.

Bought the Land Rover from a specialist dealer and it seems to be in pretty good nick, but as I am pretty new to this game I will be asking loads of questions and helping out where I can.

Welcome Gecko, ask away. Defender looks nice (do like that colour).

Agree the wheels are weedy BUT I'd have a long hard think before buying actual alloys if you're going off road. You ARE going to worry about them. 8 spoke whites are way cheap, easy to find, easy to retouch (if you can be a*sed - I like a few battle scars meself!), way up to the job & look the part too.

Enjoy the forum, friendly bunch.

Cheers,
Marcus.

Welcome to the forum Gecko,
Looks like you got yourself a nice looking 90. How much did it set you back?
I agree with Marcus about the wheels, a cheap set of 8-spokes and a set of A/T or M/T tyres and you'll be up and ready!
Bring on the questions, someone will have an answer!

Don't go near that Range Rover bit at the bottom...... We ain't from round them parrrts!

Alloys look good, but you'll be worrried you'll damage 'em.

Stick to a set of steelys and set of G90s!

Yeah, dry interiors & pollen filters........I though that's what the hairs in yer nose were for. AND Disco's, Disco's that lower themselves to "access height".........Buses do that for Grannies. A Landy that curtseys? It's just plain wrong!

Gonna shurrup before I start something I regret! :D

Cheers Marcus and all,

Thanks for the tip, I am now looking at some grey 8 spokes, which are way way cheaper than alloys.

LOL saw your post about the access height. Drove it to work for the first time on Friday and the car park has only 1.9m clearance, now I tried to judge it and thought better of it. It look pretty scary and close looking through the sun roof, well anyway they sorted me out a space on the outside, which means no more queuing in the morning and I can drive out quicker too. Result! I did have visions of having height adjustable suspension, but that just aint done, its not what I see a Landy is all about. My motto Keep it Simple, which is why I went for a 200TDI rather than one of those TD5s.

forget the 8 spokes,it will spoil it,just paint what you got the same colour as the landy and get 750x16s,the business,
malcolm:D

hi malcolm, thanks for the advice, but I think I will go for the grey/silver 8 spokes, 750s be nice but am looking at 245s ;)
