Newbie, already with a 300tdi problem

Hi, meant to join for a while but now find myself needing urgent advice. Hope I've come to the right place. Travelling for hols from Banbury to Ireland tomorrow in 96 300tdi but have registered a new and worrying rattle in area of drive belt, only there on starting when engine cold. Gone once warmed up. No oil leaks, no extra smoke. Just had full service and MOT. Worried this could be a timing belt issue and/or could scupper the trip. Any advice gratefully received.

Can you get a video of it, may help identify the noise.

Is the noise coming from the timing belt or the aux belt? have you tried removing the aux belt and checking all the pulleys by trying to rock them by hand to see if one has come loose? bearing issue.

Thanks nielly, -engine now warmed up after a 20 min drive so the rattle has gone, I'll have to wait until it's cold to record the sound and judge better where exactly it's coming from. Have not tried any removal of belts as am at a music festival (was planning to go straight from here to Ireland). Faced with difficult choice of driving on regardless or rearranging ferry for later in the week and getting it fixed.
