Last week I bought a TD5 90 from a farm and sold my TDI which I had for over 4 years. The chassis once uncovered is really sound and the bulkhead is OK.

It it up for MOT in about a weeks time, and needs some general TLC.

There a are a few things on the list to be done, but I would appreciate some advice on the following queries in particular:

There is a fair amount of play at both ends of the rear dampers, the bushes are perished and the bottom washers are breaking up. Hopefully the axle mount hasn't been worn out. For the sake of removing the dampers to replace bushes the whole units might as well be replaced. I have seen Armstrong dampers are very reasonably priced and think these might be preferable to S***part as standard duty replacement?

I was also debating buying a set of 4 dampers and 4 standard springs, on Mail Order 4x4 they are very reasonably again though it does not specify the origin of the springs (accompanied by Armstrong dampers). I plan to use the vehicle on road and off-road but not beating it about all day doing anything extreme.

Secondly I had some new H4 headlight bulbs to fit as the current ones were not especially great. On removing one of the plastic light surrounds the headlight unit simply fell out as it wasn't attached to anything. This was some mismatch unit with a spring on the back and nothing to attach to. On the other side, the headlight unit was actually held in place with an incredibly rusty chrome surround, which simply disintegrated once disturbed.

Therefore I am after a pair of matching headlight units and bowls complete with everything I need so that I can simply fit a bulb, plug the unit in and screw it back to the wing. The original bowl to wing gaskets could be reused.
I have had a look on some of the main websites but I am confused as to all the products available. I would be very grateful if someone could point me to a suitable product - preferably nothing fancy or too expensive!

Thanks, soms.
