Hi All,

I've got a problem with the stereo in my 1997 P38. Have the Harmon Kardon stereos with amps and sub in boot. The stereo seems to lose power and i get no sound out of the speakers. The display goes faint but is still there so there is still power.

I thought maybe some wires would have been exposed and touching but they all look ok when I pull the unit out.

I'm thinking of changing the unit for a CD player but have been told there will be problems because of all the amps and the sub.

Anyone shed light on this and what my options are and what problems I will have replacing the unit?

Not sure if I am being lied to or if fitting a new unit really will be problematic.

TIA

Ranger Sid,

I was quoted £100 to have a new £200 CD unit fitted to my P38 by a car audio specialst. This covered re-wiring the sub unit and connecting up the steering wheel controls.

hi friends, as a side question, any idea where I can get the 2 removal keys so I can check the wiring on these things ........... similar problem on mine, no sound, just constant buzzing

Shant10,

Small screwdrivers with a similar diameter to the wee holes in the face of the radio will do the trick.

Carefully insert, push slightly outwards and pull.

Each side can be loosened independently.

many thanks mate, will try that .... you can get removal keys for every other bloody make except LR !!!!!!!!!!!!
