The guy put 36 psi in each corner as one of the beeds leaked he said drop to 30 psi after a week so it beds in.
Is that right on is he having me on..
seem ok at 36 psi not bumpy

sounds wrog to me. If it was leaking he should have taken the tyre off again, cleaned the rim up, painted more of his magic stuff on and tried again. Over inflating the tyres is an attempt to cover up the problem, not fix it.

Whoever fitted your tyres is a total bull ****ter. As a tyre fitter myself I have never heard of over inflating to stop a wheel leaking at the beads. The tyre should have been stripped, cleaned up and then sealed with bead sealer. It may feel fine at 36 psi bit the long term effects of over inflation are the tyre will wear out in the centre quicker than on the edges and you will have to buy new ones sooner. Get yourself a spray bottle and fill it up with water and a good slosh of fairy liquid and spray it round the bead, if there are any bubbles then the wheel is leaking and should be returned to the tyre centre for bead sealing. Re set the pressures to 30 psi, this is the setting landrover recommends. Guy is obviously lazy and can't be bothered to strip the wheel again.

Every one of my alloy wheels leaked after fitting new tyres , Had to take it back and have them cleaned up & bead sealer . I run mine 35psi front 30psi rear on 215/65-16 tyres .

I understand that Land Rover orginally recomended pressures of 26 psi front and rear but there were some reported issues regarding premature tyre wear. Land Rover then changed their advice to 30 psi. I run mine, 1999 1.8, at 30 psi with no issues either on road or off.

Haven't got the handbook to hand (it's in the car and my wife has gone out in it for the evening) but having checked the pressures only last week I sem to recall that the recomended pressures (2006 model) are 30psi F&R normal running and up to 44psi R when heavily loaded.
I run her car at 30psi F&R and it likes it very well, it is very noticable if the pressure drops at all (the old Synchrones were prone to loosing some pressure). The new Hankook RH06 are currently at 30psi F&R and it rides very well.

That's what my Haynes manual says. The owners handbook says 30psi all round and I couldn't see anything in it about increasing them when loaded or towing.

Just checked the owners manual (2006 model) and it definately states 30psi F&R up to 4-persons + luggage but 44psi R when running at max gross weight.
