Works a treat and all doors (except the passenger front which I have yet to start) now work as expected from the fob. My only problem is that the new barrel requires the key from the '97 but I am not too woried about that for now.

Just swap the blade in the FOB. Not good to not have a key with you in case you need to use the dreaded EKA

Disconnect RF and leave off until you have another or they'll burn out again!!

You were spot on about the motor but I don't get the link between the RF and the lock motor? I don't understand how the Rf can burn out the motor.

If the RF receiver fails, it's possible for it to send a continuous "Lock command" Poor software design means that the BECM doesn't detect this and maintains power to the motor which then cooks
