new to land rover

im new to land rover .I have just got myself td5 auto 1999 it has done 214000 miles but it has got fsh. have I done the right thing with getting it with that mileage.

Bit late now, time will tell

Land rover engines can get to spectacular mileage with good servicing . Well all apart from the late 80's TD.

What does it run like?

runs fine its the 2.5 .its had the airbags taken out and springs in .

have you checked the chassis for rust/corrosion,especially the rear sections.

ok,but have you been underneath to check it,they are reknowned for serious rust on the chassis,as i know to my cost.the garage i bought mine from covered the chassis up with what looked like shiny paint stuff.it hid horrendous rust,so much so i am having another chassis fitted as we speak.

didn't mean to worry you,but better be sure.

Mine was waxed too, looked great until I prodded around, now sits on a galvanised chassis at much expense.
Wouldn't even bother with service history, if it runs it's fine

Welcome, all comments are relevant and rust is an issue I have found mine.... So far not too bad but for the marque of LR really poor quality control, but not always, because if you get one hat has been looked after keep it right and it will look after you. If you want worry free motoring buy a new car preferably a Kia and sell after a couple of years. But would you? Nah.
