New to Land Rover!!

Hi all you folk, me and my lovely wife Honey live in Redditch. Just bought a 95 Disco Jap import (for the wife actually) and we love it. just replaced all the discs and pads all round, exhaust, and its now had just about a full service.... feels great to be messing with a real car after years of corporate stuff that just runs perfect all the time!!!! (i think!). Just one problem to fix...... got me really stumped! same problem "Bunnybasher" had in January....

when driving normal speeds its fine and when you let of the throttle but if u just touch the throttle it kind of misses and the check engine light comes on then goes of as u accelerate or back off again

think i've narrowed it down to the MAF, if i disconnect it the performance is the same but the power loss/missing problem stops and the check engine light stops flashing on. I have searched endlessly for a replacement new part (bosch unit 0281 002 092) and cant find one for less than £360!! went second hand and got one for £30, fitted it yesterday and didn't work!! not sure now if its another faulty part i bought or if i'm barking up the wrong tree! anyone got any idea how to test these things?
