I am just saying hello, I have been lurking for some time and have enjoyed the contributions that others have made - mostly on series threads.

I bought a Discovery 3 (an automatic) last week and hope to pick it up on Tuesday. There are 71000 miles on the clock.
If anyone knows of anything that I need to do I would appreciate the advice.
I am told it is a good idea to change the gearbox oil in an auto at 70000 - but I guess I have to read the service manual etc but I do like to over maintain a thing - if that is possible.
Also since this is my first post - I hope I haven't goofed and put things in that I shouldn't have!

I have a few series Land Rovers too which I am going to keep of course.
I am a firm believer that you can never have enough Land Rovers.

You will absolutely love her!!

I've had my 05 D3 for almost a year, I've done almost 18k in her and still going strong! Cambelts service isn't so horrific if you shop around, mine cost £1k including all oils changed and new oil pump fitted and some bushes!!

It's easy enough to work on, I've replaced several parts but always wise to disconnect battery first, you never know where sensors are hiding and even then they may need re-calibrating!

Best car I've ever had, I did intend on keeping my disco 1 300tdi... Really was no need....

Now looking forward to over 2000 miles across Spain and France this summer including some mountain tracks!

Hello and thanks BenjyP,
You sound very positive which I am glad to hear. I have never spent so much buying a car.
I am envious of your trip unfortunately the furtherest I am going to go is Dorset! Hopefully the Discovery will make getting there as much a pleasure as the holiday itself!
