New to Discovery having just sold a Landrover 90 on this very forum:)

I have now a Landrover Discovery P reg 300Tdi Manual- 89,000 miles in a dark green metallic- Just a quick question on tyres- I do some off Roading as part of my shooting hobby- is it better to have AT tyres with a wide profile or a slim profile

I was looking at some General Grabber AT2's 235's or would 215's do a better job for the off road part????

Thanks guys

Les :D

Only joking Les. It's just that opinion is very divided about narrower vs wider tyres being better. I've got 265/75r16's on my disco at the moment btu only because I had them to hand. Don't think I'd have bought that wide deliberately. 235/85 is a good compromise, not too wide but nice and tall so giving the whole shebang a good lift. Might need a few bits carving off the wheel arches though:D

Hi Les, the std tyre options are 235/70/16 or 205/80/16. As you will be based predominently on-road, I would get the 235's because, having had both sizes on my 300 I'm in no doubt that on-road the 235's are better in the corners.

So, the question then goes onto what sort of tyre? Some people swear by Kumho mud tyres even on-road, others believe in BFG AT's, otheres still admire General Grabber AT2's.

With me it came down to price  ;)
