GOOD MORNING ALL...
I have just bought a 1997 2.5 RR DSE auto, with 150k on the clock doesn't look like she has had much TLC.
Fantastic body for her age but then the problems start....
I am female and this is like rocket science to me...Willing to learn this science... I would like to be able to look after her without it causing me to get a 2nd job!!!!
SHE WONT START WHEN HOT... I have read the problems and the solution has anybody tried the thing on ebay advertised????
I THINK SHE IS LOB-SIDED DOESN'T LOOK LIKE SHE SITS SQUARE IN PARK?? But the suspension goes up & down fine
SHE HAS A LOVELY RATTLING NOISE LIKE A TANK ???
HEY she is full of charm and personality & I love her..
I was thinking of taking her to a 4X4 dealer for an MOT she has one but just to check her over and a diagnostic
Any comments would be very helpful Thanks

welcome to Loonyzone, Carol.
Dont take it for a proper MOt - as if it fails, you will be screwed - coz they are now all linked to the DVLA. Tell the garage what you want and they will do it for you.
Whereabouts are you based - change your UserCP to show which area you are in.

Thank You The Mad Hat Man ...
I shall take her to a local garage and see what they say ???
My hubby is a HGV mech but he aint got the time and we have no handbook
Thanks again

150K on the clock?? any service history?? you say she sits lop sidded- sounds like a suspension check will be the 1st thing to have done- pop along to National Tyres or Kwik Fit - they won't charge you for the check up and will recommend action needed to put her square

and post some photos if you can

welcome to the landy zone Carol This is where we spend lots of £££ for little gain

as said DO NOT MOT her if she fails - you loose the car untill shes fixed and re-MOT'd

Les :D :D

Hi Lez325 Thanks for reply...
NO service History or any nice paperwork like that, she was a repo and the garage had nowt other than MOT, HPi check oh and a key...
She requires some serious TLC and money...
Hubby says trade her in but I really like her and want to do her up so she looks like one I cant afford to buy - SUPERCHARGER...

that's probably 2 of the worst places you could take it

find yourself a local independant LR aware garage and ask them to do a pre MOT check on it - dont be supprised if they come back with a list of things to do as long as yer arm

IN your opinion maybe
I disagree- National Tyres here in Taunton as superb been with them for yrs and any checks are thorough :p Not saying you have to have the work done by them- just the suspesion checked

Les :)

when i was alot younger and suprisingly even better lookin , i worked for a car parts supplier and made regular visits to kwik fit .... oh my god !! some of them could'nt even write proper like wot we lot can .
i remember that one off the managers was serving a ten year driving ban for his second or third drink driving charge ... its not a place i would go too ..

national tyres always seamed fine to me , but A.T.S was the better one in my opinion..

Hello Carol, Under no cicumstances go to Kwik-Fit or any of the fast fit chains. Better to find a good independent as lrb2 & Sean say. Hopefully some other people nearer to your area will recommend properly. Welcome to the Forum.

along with all the other kwik fit horror stories and such one of my tutors used to work at kwik fit, and was actually TRAINED to charge people for tracking and not do it
