if you just want to look 4x4 go for the german if you actually want to have the ability to use 4x4 ie;off the black stuff, grass, light muddy conditions and snow be patriotic

i take it its not to be used for offroading and will just be a pimp mobile then
No off roading, never had a 4X4 but spend a lot of time in Spain where the roads are bad. Roads are bad enough in the UK. Not for school runs as I don't have kids. IT's purely for the me & the wife to chuck skis & mountain bikes in the back.

a mate of mine has a x5 and a discovery 3 (which is the same chassis/running gear as RRS ) he did say the other day the x5 is not so good on fuel ,and he seems to be driving the disco a lot more than the x5 since buying the disco
me i would'nt have a x5 as a gift

X5? As I understand it the X5 is an excellent machine.
Unless you want to use it off road.... on bad roads... on slightly slippery surfaces... and any sort of hill... on icy tarmac.....on grass.... for towing.... in fact anything that a bog standard corsa could not deal with...

My brother has one of VXR Corsa's. I've got an RRS for a day next week & then it'll be decision time!
