After moving house and uping my commute to 90 miles the 2004 DC wasn't going to cut it as a daily so it had to go. But I still wanted a weekend workhorse that'll hopefully be tax and mot exempt in a couple of years. This turned up cheap needing a load of work so I'm kicking off this tread. Will probably need loads of help, its a sort of cross over year I guess?

I'll need luck! Chassis is see through but maybe a rear half will do it.
Aim is to have it mechanically spot on. Super solid painted chassis. 6 new tyres on freshly painted rims. All new painted out interior, dash and seats. Body and paint stays how it is. Looks its age gracefully

Interesting truck, not many of theses left now. What engine does it have ? Is the transmission the standard 90/110 permanent 4 wheel drive ? Only ask as some came with a series type part time system that was dropped early on. Good luck with getting it sorted, at least the body capping's were still galved at that time.:)

It’s permanent 4 wheel drive with a 2.25 na engine. Is that a J series?
Interior is caviar I think, what’s left of it.

Looks like a 2-1/4 to me, most of the oil is on the inside of the engine rather than the outside, which is a good sign.
It would be a shame to replace it, but it will be very very very slow. However slow you are thinking right now, it will be even slower!
I had a 2.5 N/A 110 with a decent re-con engine and you had to wring its neck to keep up with traffic, think 55mph on the motorway and even slower when there is a hill.

55mph:eek:

speedo telling porkies there I think;)

think ours got to 50mph once BUT that was on a long flat bit of local M4 and then there was a slight incline:oops:

BUT, they do keep going:cool:
