I've had a 2.4 Puma 110 SW for 2.5 months - all been good and enjoying ownership. Been on camping holidays, generally using it as my only vehicle.

Had to take daughter to Uni yesterday - 550 mile round trip in a day.

It was fine on the way up, happily cruising at 70 with torque to take on hills in 6th etc.

I filled up (at Asda) prior to doing the return trip and about 10 minutes later as I got on the motorway it was like a restrictor had been placed over the air intake.
It was fine on light throttles and would stay on 2500rpm in 5th (gradually losing speed on steeper gradients) but if I buried the throttle there was no more to be had. Coasting/downhill it was fine. No visible smoke in the mirrors.
Traffic was slow so I stuck with it thought maybe it was bad fuel and got through a third of a tank before pulling into the services.
I checked the hubs and the fronts were warm (but the same temp), rears cool. Transfer box too hot to touch.
Engine idled fine no noises.
Switched off, left it for 10 minutes.
On restart there was a loud noise like a belt slipping or a really dry bearing. This lasted for about 20 seconds then stopped and engine idled fine both during and after this noise.
I drove to the fuel bit (which was fine, no noises) topped tank up with super diesel and prepared for a slow journey home.
It was fine - back to how it was on the journey up there, pulled like a train, no hesitation.

Any ideas?
