I am looking at running some off road tyres (Cooper AT3) over the winter, however the fronts are currently very worn and require replacement ASAP. However finances dictate that I can only afford the front two this month and the rears next month. Will running the new tyres on the front (same size/height/rim as existing tyres) cause any problems for a month?

Depends what tyres you have on the rear tbh. While mixing and matching is generally fine. I wouldn't exactly run completely different types of tyres front to rear. And if you are changing style of tyre, the same rated size may well be physically taller (or shorter).

Lastly depends on use. I mean if all you do is 15 miles a week... then that rather different to doing say 300 miles a week.

Options.

Buy a jar... stick money in it until you have enough for all 4.

Use that clever finance option to buy all 4 tyres at once and just pay half of it off at checkout and clear the balance next month. Or indeed split it over 12 payments...
