She liked the small MG’s, so I bought an MGTF, which we have enjoyed and now belong to the owners club.
I believe the lwb has the potential for a great camper, fairly easy to work on and is British.

I think you need to look into the history and terminology of Land Rovers a bit if you are going to fit in with the other enthusiasts.
For a start, there is no such thing as a Defender Series.
Defenders are a coil spring vehicle built after about 1990.
Series are a leaf sprung vehicle built prior to 1983. The last Series were Series 3, before that were Series 2as, Series 2 were only built for a few years after the end of Series 1, which where the original Land Rovers built from 1948.
There is also no need to refer to a 109" LWB. All Series 3 LWB were 109" wheelbase.

So what you are after is a Series 3 109", or if you prefer, a Series 3 LWB. They come in different variants, truck cab, hard top (what other vehicles call a van), or Station Wagon, with windows and seats in the back. They are generally the most sought after, and hence expensive.
