Hi There,
I own a 110 defender that I use for work. I am after information on trailer electrics, specifically how you connect LED type trailer systems to the defender so that the trailer lights monitoring works.

Cheers

Surely the trailer lights should work on any vehicle? Old or new.

Well, that's what I thought, however, and it makes sense if you think about it, newer vehicles have systems that monitor the trailer electrics and check that the lights are ok. This is done, I think, by monitoring the current drawn by the trailer but I am not sure. I have seen various tales about LED lights not being driven properly by newer vehicles, both 4WD and ordinary cars, because of this. There are systems advertised that claim to sort this out but I would rather like to know what is actually happening and how to get round it.
