Hi
I’ve just purchased a 2005 freelander td4 sport (LHD) in excellent condition with full service history. It’s covered 120,000 miles, has had a recent clutch, recon prop shaft and new exhaust.I live half the year in southern Spain and will be making the 2,800 mile round trip every summer/winter. My question is - do members have any view/advice on the fitting of a diesel tuning chip remap? I guess if the right foot is not too heavy on the throttle the vehicle would (without a remap) be returning mid 30’s mpg? I am led to believe that fitting a remap device may improve performance/economy...unless those that know (You guys) tell me otherwise! No point in wasting money if its not going to improve my experience of driving the vehicle. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Welcome

I’m not sure about FL’s but it helps certain vehicles.

For example, my P38D with manual gearbox will use more fuel with a chip, in general.
Same vehicle with auto will need to change down more during use so chip will provide more power, stop it needing to change down and therefore save fuel on like-like drive

a lot of it is dependant on your driving technique/demands and particular vehicle spec.
The guys n gals in the Freelander section will know more :)

Many thanks for that, I’ve not found the freelander section yet, but I guess I’ll manage to navigate there at some point...hopefully
