Hi

Just joined! I have a 2001 Freelander and after 18 months ownership, I thought I'd post my experience for others who are new to 4x4's as I was and in particular the MK1 Freelander. Hopefully, I'll post in the correct section....

Cheers

Hello David and welcome to Landyzone. We Freelander owners get a bit of stick from the disco and rangie owners, I think it's because they are jealous that ours work and their mostly don't.

Hi Shaun
I've not had any problems with my rear window, but its operation does seem a little flaky. I think it needs to travel the full length of the track to operate correctly, so It may be sticking somewhere and not going right to the top? Mine won't stay in any position other than fully open or fully closed! I have no idea if there's an in-between option.
Cheers

Yes my rear window will only stay fully open or fully closed too. I think I read that it can be opened to transport long loads but they don't recommend you drive with it open because exhaust fumes get drawn into the car. Shaun, if yours keeps coming down their must be a problem with it. When it is fully closed, if you open the rear door, the window is supposed to go down a little to before the door opens, then when you close the door, it goes back to fully closed. Therefore there must be a limit switch built into the door somewhere. I guess yours is faulty or misaligned. I reckon you will need to take the inner door trim off to see what's going on. To be honest, I've only had mine for less than a month so I'm still learning it's foibles.

Thanks for your time an effort lads.
I think it's one for the garage. Your right its probably a electrical or mechanical problem. Thanks again
Shaun
