New member with a Freelander and a problem

Hi everybody, introducing myself as a new member from S E London, but I also come burdened with a problem which showed itself today (Saturday). I have a freelander TD4 on an O3 plate. I was doing 70 or so when the engine (picture of an engine) warning light came on and I lost power. Engine did not cut out, then the light went out and I continued at 50mph. When I needed to scoot out at a busy roundabout, the light flashed up and there was virtually no power.
Sorry to bring this up on my intro, I'm sure there must be a certain part of this forum to ask for help.
Any advice on this problem would be appriciated
