Hi all, I am new to all this and I have an opportunity to restore a series 3 109"utility diesel. I went to look at it yesterday and have come to the conclusion that it will need a full restoration, chassis up. I have little knowledge but willing to learn. I have all the manuals from the current owner. One Sticky point is that it is in Liverpool and live 220 miles away near Camberley. The issue I have with moving it would be that the wheels don't seem to want to turn and I can't drag it onto and off the trailer. Any ideas on how to release the wheels so they turn? Also the two front doors don't open so the entrance and exit is through the back door. It has been stood still for around 16 years and not covered. I have been told that it was started before Christmas but no tried it myself. Any thoughts are gratefully received.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome.

If it has stood for that long, the brakes are likely to have seized. It might move on it’s own once started. If it won’t start, you might need to remove the wheels and brake drums to free the brakes as a worst case scenario. It would be worth having a go at starting it and moving it or getting a friend to do so before taking it apart though. Someone else with experience of this might be able to help.

Good luck with whatever you do. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you knappster,
I am next in Liverpool in April so will try to start it and move then, if having it is still the table. I have sent around 60 photos to a local landrover specialist, for him to give some advice on it.
Hopefully find more info out in the coming days
Thank you again. Any more help greatly appreciated.
