I tend to read a great deal on here, and not write much, but just wanted to reflct that this can pay huge dividends sometimes.

A couple of weeks ago, my 90 TD5 (2002) suddnly died (in a most inconvenient place, just at th exit to a roundabout) with no warning. I managed to get it home ('phoned a friend) and then did a search on Landyzone to try and determine the problem. One of the likely causes seemed to be oil in the red ECU plug, so I managed to locate this and have a look. True to tell, there was oil there.

However, when I managed to get the 90 out to my local independent (Lee - Island 4x4, utterly reliable) he told me the lift pumo in the tank had failed. I did, however, mention I'd checked the ECU plug and he had a look and confirmed the loom needed changing.

The point of this long-winded tale is that now I have a working landy back, I cannot believe the difference in her performance. I reckon the oil must have been affecting her (possibly every since I got her, just over two years ago) as there is now no longer a characterstic 'lag' in the lower gears when she's cold. Just nice smooth power all the way through the range (she's done 103,000, so I am not over-eager with the left foot).

It's like having a new vehicle - and if I had not been a diligent reader of all the good advice (and blatant twaddle) on here, I might not have had the loom done as well. So - even though I dn't contribute much, a hearty 'thanks' to all those that do.

Best,
Phil

Blatant twaddle is the main stay Off this here forum, with a bit of technical **** taking and some real life experiences thrown in for good measure
Glad you got out sorted.

I'm doing alot of lurking at the moment, trying to find out why my old E reg Defender 90 (named Olive) is leaking so much oil all over my driveway. I believe oil leaks are common but how common and what is the most common cause of them? I might even have to start a thread on this to get answers. I am a Newby to this forum, have had my Landy for almost two years now and she's lovely but she has earned her name I'm afraid.
