Hello All,
I am new here but with the will to share ideas and new proposals for this
exiting vehicle.
I have a Land Rover Discovery Series I make 1995, with 98K miles, Epsom
Green and tan interior. I live in Upstate Newyork (Where the humidity and
temperature shifts are the most ugliest. High snow for today and low of 20o
F!)
From my recent improvements, around the 75K miles, the engine switch was
flipping and it was making it impossible to turnit on or off. I took it to
the local Land Rover dealer where they checked it and opened all the
ingnition system. They revised it and the initial budget was for around
$1500 (Good for a downpayment of a recent Disco!) well to make the story
short, I went to woodfin Autosales where I found the Ignition Key (the set
came with the master key, the infra red lock swith, the ignition unit and
the ignition switch for $250)

Time to do the replacement: 45 minutes to 1 Hr
Estimated Budget $250
now i have the extra ignition switch in case it fails and two sets of keys:
one for the doors and one for the ignition key itself.
As being a newbie, I have some issues (obviously due to age, mileage and
weater conditions but with your advice I hope I can find easier these
issues):
*The SRS light is on in the dash
*The dash lights are off. I checked all the cables inside and the fuses
and all are OK but I do not have lights inside the dash board of the truck
*The antilock light sometimes keeps on for more than 3 hours of ride.
*Sometimes the Disco tends to lose power and I mean it trying to
accelerate it and going no upper than 45 to 50 Mph. I went to British
Atlantic where I bought the tune-up kit, electrical cables, coil,
distributor cap, distributor rotor and new Bosch Spark plugs The tune up
went excellent and it improved many issues. two of the spark plugs in the
left bank har carbon residue and apparently the cables were burned in the
inside.
As I say I still have this low power in my disco for some reason son any
help with these issues are well accepted.

I am planning in working on a excel Spreadsheet with all the possible
failures with a mileage chart to be able to see when, who and what to
replace. (I don't know I I am reinventing the wheel) but I feel it is some
visual aide for all of us here. if it does not exist, I will initially post
it in my website www.merca-web.com . The idea would be to have all input of
all the possible issues and failures for an average use and wear for all to
review. so any contribution would be great.
Thanks in advance for your attention and hope to hear from you all,
